About This Tree
A distinctive, symmetrical evergreen conifer featuring a straight, upright trunk with characteristically spaced horizontal branches arranged in tiered whorls. The crown starts broadly pyramidal when young and develops a more columnar or slightly spreading appearance at great heights. It has a moderate growth rate and soft, fine-textured foliage.
Leaf Characteristics
Juvenile leaves are soft, awl-shaped, bright green, and incurved, about 1/2 inch long, densely clothing the branchlets. Adult leaves found on older, cone-bearing branches are shorter, scale-like, overlapping, and closely appressed to the stem.
